I am extremely sorry for the suffering Michael LaHood's family has been put through. The person responsible for his death, Mauriceo Brown has been put to death, which is appropriate. I am for the death penalty in some cases. Kenneth Foster did not pull the trigger, and he did not know that Brown was going to kill LaHood. He was just with the wrong people at the wrong time. Should there be consequences? YES!!! However, the death penalty is not an appropriate consequence for Foster's crime of being with the wrong people. It is much too harsh for what he did, which was to wait in the car, not knowing what was going on. He is not responsible for Brown's actions that caused LaHood's murder. Please correct the wrong before it is too late. DO NOT KILL THIS INNOCENT PERSON!!!Here is another letter from a death penalty supporter from Houston:
I am a Conservative, who approves of the death penalty , but this is completely unjustifiable. The rule of law has been corrupted in this instance; at most the accused was with the wrong people and at the wrong time. According to the actual killer, the crime and murder were not pre-meditated, so therefore Mr. Foster could not have reasonably known that a capital crime was going to take place. I believe in a strong justice system that includes the death penalty, but this is not a correct sentence, and only gives credence to those who oppose the death penalty. And another one from a death penalty supporter from Conroe:
You probably get a lot of emails from Anti-Death Penalty types. I am not one of them. I am quite for the death penalty, but I would prefer to have it used to kill those who deserve it. The perpetrators and the ones who may have helped them. In this case, this does not seem to be what is happening. After reading on the case and the affidavits available I only come to the conclusion that at the very least he is deserving of a new trial. If the outcome of this new trial produces the same jury vote and all the evidence is heard, then I pray for this young man and his bad choices. But it would be most egregious if the State I so love begins to execute its innocent citizens. Thank you for your time.
